Invented Dunlopillo Latex Form
Led by Mr E.A Murphy, Dunlop scientists invent Dunlopillo latex. Dunlopillo is the first of its kind to be used pad seats in public trams, trains and trolley buses. The aircraft industry also welcomes latex foam to pad cockpits and seats.

First Latex Mattress Made
The first latex mattresses are made. It is a huge success as they are the first that do not need to be plumped, or turned to stay fresh and maintain their shape.

Proved Latex is Anti-bacterial
Dr Theo Lammers from the Institute of Hygiene, Gutenburg University, proves that latex foam has exceptionally high anti-bacterial properties, and is hygienically ideal for mattresses, superior to all existing materials.
